History

  • Because Mother’s Day was such a bittersweet time for them, the two founders, Betty Kight and Bonita Mackey, would meet for lunch on the Saturday before Mother’s Day to remember and celebrate the lives of their amazing Moms.

  • Recognizing that there are many women who probably experienced those same bittersweet feelings, they extended invitation to other women to join them for their annual luncheon.

  • The very first formal Motherless Daughters luncheon was held in 2007 on the Saturday before Mother’s Day.  There were 8 women in attendance.

  • Annual luncheon attendance has experienced a 47% annual growth rate since 2007.
